The Developments

Close to a century of dedicated inquiry by many individuals established the main findings I am going to summarize in a few paragraphs.  Their synthesis depends on recent advances in several fields within cognitive science.

Efforts to control symptoms of stress has taken only a few forms with many variations, actual meditation being introduced some fifty years into their development. Over several decades the main methods were all found to be effective, and after additional extended study no one approach emerged as superior to another.

Once all the major stress management methods were shown to be powerful and on a par, substituting a systematic resting practice followed and was also shown to be equally effective. All the methods were thus, against all expectation, condensed to the regular practice of entirely resting while completely alert to doing so. 

With the aid of this unanticipated but intuitively sound breakthrough – known as the resting equivalence finding for meditative relaxation  – you will be able to clearly appreciate why and how taking time for that each day is rewarding in itself and sets for effectiveness and well being 

In taking these steps to a pure contemplative practice you will be aiming away from deficit correction towards revitalizing the utter dependence on being fully aware you never doubted.  The sense for this and its understanding becomes commandingly clear as you identify the overriding primary purpose being aware serves in forming your actions out of which you  secondarily perceive the world.
